5. Bring Your AI Characters to Life! 🎬

🚀 Summon Your Character!

In the last tutorial, we meticulously crafted the AI's "identity cards" – Characters. Now, let's learn how to use these cards to initiate conversations. It's super simple and instantly puts the AI into the desired state!

Why this is cool:

• One-Click Setup: No need to manually tweak the System Prompt and model settings in the right sidebar every time.
• Consistency: Ensures the AI consistently plays the role you defined for specific tasks.
• Easy Task Switching: Quickly create different chats using different Characters (like switching between a "Programming Tutor" and a "Writing Assistant").

👇 Step-by-Step:

1. Return to the Main Interface:

   • If you're still in the Character Editor or another settings screen, please go back to Daan's main chat interface (the one with the left, middle, and right columns).

2. Find Your Character List:

   • Look at the Left Sidebar. Below the "+ New Chat" button, you should see the "CHARACTERS" label.
   • Underneath this label are the icons and names of all the Characters you've created (like the "English Speaking Partner" 🧑‍🏫 we made earlier).

3. Click the Character to Start Chatting! ✨

   • This is the key step: Simply click on the icon or name of the Character you want to use.
   • Note: Don't click the ellipsis (...) next to it; that takes you to the editor. Click the Character itself!
   • After clicking, you'll notice that a new chat session immediately opens in the Middle Chat Area.

4. (Recommended) Check the Right Sidebar:

   • Once the new chat session opens, glance over at the Right Sidebar (Chat Parameters).
   • You should pleasantly find that:
     • Chat Name: Might be automatically filled with your Character's name.
     • System Prompt: Automatically populated with the detailed instructions you wrote for that Character! 📝
     • Model: Automatically set to the specific AI Model you assigned to that Character! 🧠
     • Other parameters (like Max History Messages) will also match the Character's settings.
   • This confirms that the chat has successfully loaded your Character's presets!

5. Start Chatting as Usual:

   • Now, type your first message in the input box at the bottom of the Middle Chat Area!
   • Tip: Start the conversation based on the Character you selected. For example, if we just clicked "English Speaking Partner":
     • You could type: Hi Alex, can we practice talking about hobbies today?
   • Then press Enter or click the Send icon ✈️.

6. Observe the AI's "Performance":

   • The AI's responses should now follow the instructions you gave it in the Character's System Prompt.
   • For instance, the "English Speaking Partner" should respond in a friendly tone, might initiate conversation, and perhaps correct your grammar (if you asked for that in the prompt).
   • This is the magic of Characters! 🎭

7. Different Characters, Different Chats:

   • The chat session you just created using a Character is independent.
   • You can always go back to the Left Sidebar and click "+ New Chat" to create a regular chat using default settings, or click another Character icon to start a conversation with a different AI persona. They don't interfere with each other.
